Encouraging Women to Get Involved in Policy Making
Building on the leadership of BC’s first elected woman premier in Christy Clark, the Network encourages women to become actively involved in policy development and initiatives, and in seeking office in provincial elections.
We offer support in presenting new ideas to government, and partner with BC women in initiatives that increase engagement with women across the province.

Panel Discussion: Obstacles Facing Women in Politics
On April 30th, 2019, the Women’s Network hosted a panel discussion entitled “Women in Politics – the obstacles and difficulties that they face.” Panelists were Shirley Bond, MLA Prince George Valemont, Tracy Redies, MLA Surrey White Rock, Alex Dutton, former candidate Victoria Oak Bay – Gordon Head, and Puneet Sandhar, former candidate Surrey Panorama. The panel was moderated by Jas Johal, MLA Richmond-Queensborough.
These women shared their experiences, considerations for running, obstacles, wins and losses, positive experiences and takeaways from entering the race to become an elected politician. They gave heartfelt insightful and excellent information to potential future candidates, who were invited to attend and learn about the electoral process as experienced by women candidates.
