Prior to serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board, Kelly was heavily involved at Belmont High School helping to preserve the schools 150 years of history by digitizing hundreds of photographs and creating an online archive for the school. The opening year of the new high school, Kelly was elected to Treasurer of the Parents Association and then elected President for the following two terms. While working with the families and students at Belmont, he was introduced to a wide variety of experiences and challenges along the way.

Being an active community member Kelly’s passion and drive to build a stronger community for families and businesses continues to be his top priority. This is reflected in his years of experience, commitment, and dedication to being a champion for small business and education.

"We can help the economy recover by helping business hire staff back, invest in new ways of doing business and creating opportunities. A government should stimulate the economy in a way that allows business to hire people, when a government hires people it's not creating jobs—it's creating costs."

“I have worked with and known Kelly Darwin for about 10 years. He’s one of the few business people I know that both understands and appreciates the customer business needs as equally as his own trade. This rare attribute has allowed Kelly to uniquely appreciate the Small Business person and their circumstances better than most. He demonstrates amazing enthusiasm and caring for the Westshore community. As a member of numerous local business organizations Kelly is the regions Small Business advocate and champion. He is a young man who directly understands the Westshore community challenges of affordable family housing, the lack of efficient transportation and manageable growth. Kelly will bring a ton of energy, enthusiasm and understanding to his role as MLA for the constituency of Langford-Juan de Fuca.”
John Juricic
“I have known Kelly Darwin for several years. In addition to our children attending the same high school, I have grown to know Kelly very well over the last few years as our business lives intersected. I have found Kelly to share similar interests to mine as well as having a positive, get it done demeanor. I have been impressed with Kelly’s connections within the Langford and Westshore Business Community. Through his own business, his podcasts with his associate John Juricic and his continued involvement in the Westshore Chamber of Commerce, he knows many people both in the business sector as well as local political figures. His profile extends across many aspects of the Westshore community. He has done a great job as president of our local BC Liberal Riding Association through some challenging times. Our MLA breakfast meetings serve as a reminder to all of us that the BC Liberal Party is very much alive in the Westshore. Furthermore, his work in organizing a party reception in downtown Victoria last fall was very well attended and well received. I think Kelly would make a great candidate for the Langford Juan de Fuca riding for the BC Liberals. His calm, confident style coupled with his contacts in so many areas of endeavor out here will serve him well in challenging the incumbent.”
