Gordon Sebastian, Simogyat Luutkudziiwus is an advocate for the interests of all people.
Gordon, is a lawyer and practiced law privately until 2009. Currently, working as the Executive Director in Gitxsan Government, he melds his past professional life with traditional culture in his role as a Simogyat, creating and achieving an environment of trust and fairness dealing with all people.
Gordon pays respectful attention to the local economy and opportunities of employment generated in the forest, mining and tourism industries. He copes with change maintaining the balance of local interests with potential economic benefit. He actively participated on committees completing the Hazelton High School and most recently the new $22 million sports complex in Hazelton BC. He has five daughters, plus three step daughters, all of which are professionals and independent hard workers.
He served as a Director on the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine and a Trustee on the School Board District 82. He advanced the accommodation of First Nations in economic development, and included culture and language of First Nations in Education.
Gordon’s vast experience working with his community, including First Nations provides him with a unique and detailed perspective to cope with change facing people living in the Stikine Riding.
