This Code of Conduct identifies the standard of behaviour expected of all BC Liberal candidates, staff and volunteers.

The BC Liberal Party is committed to providing a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for all, regardless of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age or mental or physical disability.
Every candidate, volunteer, and staff member has the right to work in an environment that is free of discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment.

Expected Behaviour

All candidates, staff and volunteers at all times are expected to conduct themselves in a way consistent with the values of BC Liberal Party, including:

Behaving in a way that is considerate, respectful and collaborative towards others.

Refraining from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behaviour.
Being mindful of your surroundings and of others.

Unacceptable Behaviour

Unacceptable behaviour includes intimidation, bullying, harassment, abuse, and discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct.

Harassment is a form of discrimination. It includes any unwanted physical, verbal or written behavior directed against a person that is known, or ought reasonably to be known, to be unwelcome, offensive, humiliating, or demeaning.

Harassment includes offensive oral or written remarks, gestures, display of images or other conduct that demeans, belittles, insults, derides or humiliates.

Sexual harassment is vexatious comment or unwelcome conduct because of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
Sexual harassment includes unnecessary physical contact, unwanted touching, intrusive sexual questions, comments of a sexual nature, comments about bodies or appearance, and unwelcome sexual solicitations or advances.

 
What to do if you experience or witness unacceptable behaviour.

If you experience or witness unacceptable behaviour, including intimidation, bullying, harassment, abuse, discrimination, or derogatory or demeaning conduct, please notify your campaign manager immediately. They will report to the proper BC Liberal Party officials. If you feel uncomfortable reporting to the campaign manager, we encourage you to make a confidential complaint directly to the BCLP.

Consequences of unacceptable behaviour.

Unacceptable behaviour will be not be tolerated.

BC Liberal officials may take whatever action they deem appropriate, including possible expulsion from BC Liberal Party campaign premises, BC Liberal Party events, or BC Liberal Party. Potential criminal behaviour will be reported to the proper authorities.
