Meet John Yap

John Yap

Richmond -Steveston Candidate

John Yap is the BC Liberal MLA for Richmond-Steveston. He was first elected to serve the riding in 2005.

Yap most recently served as Parliamentary Secretary for Liquor Reform Policy to the Minister of Small Business, Red Tape Reduction and Minister Responsible for the Liquor Distribution Branch. He also served on the Cabinet Committee for a Strong Economy and the Cabinet Committee for Legislative Review. Yap also served on the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services and the Special Committee to Review the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Previously, Yap served as Minister of Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology, Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism, and Minister of State for Climate Action.

Yap attended the University of British Columbia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and obtained his Masters of Business Administration.
