Maple Ridge has a New Mental Health Residence
Maple Ridge’s New Mental Health Residence
People in the Maple Ridge region with mental health challenges now have a new supportive place to call home. The Beckman Apartments provides residents with the supports they need to recover in the community.
The new 20-bed residence is a home-like setting with studio apartments. It’s close to community amenities and public transit, Beckman Apartments is wheelchair accessible, and has common dining areas for residents to come together to eat and socialize.
“This housing will provide Maple Ridge residents in need with a safe place to gain control and find meaning in their lives,” said Marc Dalton, MLA Maple Ridge-Mission.
The assisted living residence is staffed 24 hours per day, seven days per week, by mental health-care workers and professional nursing staff. Through their own goals and plans, residents will gain the skills and experience needed to reach their optimal lifestyle.

“The goal of all of our services at Fraser Health is recovery. Evidence now shows individuals who are empowered to take charge of their own health and wellness by developing plans and goals not only get well, but stay well,” said Michael Marchbank, president and CEO, Fraser Health. “Beckman Apartments provides individuals with more independent care options where they can be more in control of their lives and their illness.”
“MPA Society is excited to welcome Beckman Apartments to our continuum of community housing programs,” said David MacIntyre, executive director, MPA Society a non-profit housing and service provider that provides recovery-focused support for individuals with mental health challenges.
Beckman Apartments is on the same site as Beckman House, a 21 bed licensed residential care facility. Across the street are eight bridging units, which provide independent living options for residents. Together, they create a mental health residential campus.
