Is John Horgan rounding out his team with anti-Trans Mountain, anti-LNG candidates?

VANCOUVER – The BC NDP’s true colours are on display as Niki Sharma announces she will seek the party’s nomination in Vancouver-Hastings. Sharma has a long track record of activism against the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion and LNG development in BC, raising doubts about the future of these two projects if John Horgan was to secure a majority government.

There is no doubt hard-working British Columbians and their families want these projects to move forward to ensure they have quality jobs over the long-term. Unfortunately, Sharma has a long history of opposing resource projects such as the FortisBC LNG terminal in Delta and has even called arguments supportive of the LNG industry a ‘race to the bottom’.

“B.C. families deserve a government that stands with them in support of responsible resource development projects, not more elected officials in Victoria who actively want to interfere and stop forward progress,” said Stephanie Cadieux, BC Liberal MLA for Surrey South.  “Working British Columbians deserve a government that will support investment and growth in BC.”

Cadieux added that in the midst of a global pandemic that is having a massive impact on our economy, now is not the time to put generational projects like LNG Canada at risk, which is exactly what John Horgan as he recruits more anti-resource candidates.

“John Horgan and the NDP are showing their true colours with handouts to their core supporters, a bungled back-to-school approach, and now another candidate opposed to BC resource industries,” Cadieux said. “Now more than ever, BC deserves a government that will say yes to more jobs, yes to more prosperity and yes to building a province we can all be proud of. The BC Liberals will stand up for everyday families, their communities and their jobs all day, everyday.”
