MAPLE RIDGE/PITT MEADOWS – Protestors and activists are blocking a vital commuter railway track at Pitt River rail bridge, stranding many British Columbian commuters who depend on the West Coast Express.
“It is unacceptable that residents of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows will not be able to get home via the West Coast Express tonight,” said Cheryl Ashlie, BC Liberal candidate for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows. “Thousands of hardworking British Columbians depend on the WCE to get to and from work in downtown Vancouver everyday. These radical activists have been able to disrupt our lives thanks to the lack of leadership from John Horgan and his NDP government.”
Planned protests by well-funded radical activists have been impacting commuters throughout BC and in parts of Canada. Recent protests at the Legislature in Victoria prevented staff and MLAs from entering the building and doing their jobs. Major arteries in and around Vancouver have been blocked off to prevent commuters from getting where they need to be.
Protestors are even using a handbook written by Attorney General David Eby on how to disrupt and protest.
“The Premier’s job is to preserve the rule of law,” Ashlie continued. “We need a leader who will stand up for British Columbians impacted by these unlawful protests. Horgan is just not doing his job.”
