Restoring BC’s economic advantage

Under the NDP-Green coalition government, taxes have increased by over $5.7 billion since 2017 – that’s an average of $3,025 per household for this year.

They’ve added 23 new or increased taxes, including sneaky taxes on soda and Netflix, that far outweigh the benefits of eliminating MSP premiums. And the many British Columbians whose MSP was already paid by their employer are saving nothing at all on their tax bill.

Based on current tax rates, over the life of John Horgan’s government, British Columbians will pay an additional $7,692 per household.

It’s not just individuals and families paying the bill for the NDP’s reckless tax hikes – which the Greens have voted for at every opportunity.

Increased taxes and red tape crush the private sector innovation and growth that power our economy.

They make businesses less likely to set up shop in BC, or expand and hire more people.

The new Employer Health Tax actively discourages businesses large and small from growing their workforces and giving raises to their employees – punishing, rather than encouraging growth.

"Small business advocates furious as B.C.'s employer health tax payments begin."

The employer health tax alone will cost businesses $1.9 billion in 2020/2021.

BC can do so much better.

A BC Liberal government led by Andrew Wilkinson will restore BC’s economic advantage by reducing the burden of taxes and red tape, making our province a global destination for technology and innovation where we attract and create the jobs of the future.

That’s what Opportunity for all of BC is all about.
