Communities
Your B.C. Liberal Party believes that people who choose to commit gun crimes belong in jail, and not on our streets. We’re tough on crime, and taking action to end the gang violence.

The B.C. Liberal Record

We launched an initiative to hire 168 new police officers, 10 new gang-dedicated Crown Prosecutors, and invest $185-million in building jail cells to keep criminals off our communities’ streets.

We’ve created a 10-person police team dedicated specifically to seizing firearms.

B.C. has over 1,100 more police officers than five years ago - nearly 8,700 police officers in all.

We’ve returned more than $270 million in traffic fine revenues to municipalities to hire 560 additional officers.

We are pushing for changes to federal laws to support police and prosecutors to catch criminals and keep them behind bars.

We’re banning modified armoured vehicles, and regulating the sale of body armour so that criminals no longer have access to them.

We've increased funding for towns and cities by $2.3 billion to build infrastructure like trails, parks, arenas and to create safe, secure communities.
