Carole James and the NDP continued their campaign of dishonesty by stating funding for the Burnaby Partners in Seniors Wellness program was discontinued by the Fraser Health Authority on April 1st of this year. That is simply untrue.
- For the past few years the Fraser Health Authority has provided the Burnaby Partners in Seniors Wellness approximately $30,000 annually to support health promotion activities in the community.
- The present contract was entered into for $30,000 which runs until June 2009 , not April 1st as Carole James dishonestly states.
- The contract has a clause that includes an evaluation of outcomes to ensure the work undertaken by the organization meets expectations to improve promotional health in the community.
- A final report on the evaluation of the outcomes is not anticipated until June and decisions around future funding will not be made until that time.
- Fraser Health spent approximately $184.2 million on home care and home support last year, an increase of 79 per cent since 2001.
