NDP dishonesty on P3s is staggering
Today on CKNW, talking about P3 projects across B.C., NDP MLA Maurine Karagianis asked "How many more of Gordon Campbell's privatized funding schemes will fail?" She's either hopelessly uninformed, or simply dishonest. Every P3 project in B.C. under the Liberals has come in on time, on budget, or better. Which of these P3s does Karagianis consider a failure?
- The Bennett Bridge in Kelowna: delivered 108 days ahead of schedule.
- The Park Bridge – on budget, and 21 months early.
- Abbotsford Hospital and Cancer Centre – first new Regional Hospital in 30 years
- P3s have delivered a combined $340 million in savings and benefits.
Furthermore, for Karagianis to express concern about the Port Mann project is simply hypocrisy. They don't want this project to proceed. It was her party who voted against Port Mann legislation and her leader called it "the wrong bridge and the wrong plan" (CTV, Sept 27/07).
