The Facts on Health Care in Surrey
Carole James is at Surrey Memorial Hospital today. Hopefully she'll take the chance to see what real action on health care looks like, with new beds added, improvements underway, and a brand new hospital under construction. Compare that to total inaction from the NDP when they were in government, and the fact that the NDP continually vote against every measure to improve health care in Surrey.
- Construction is well underway on the $239-million Surrey Outpatient Hospital. It's a whole new hospital that will treat almost 450,000 people per year - people who previously had to go to Surrey Memorial.
- In September, 2008 we added 73 more acute care beds to Surrey Memorial Hospital, bringing the total to 491 beds – a 26 per cent increase since the BC Liberals were elected.
- Work continues on dramatically expanding the E.R. and Urgent Care centres at SMH.
- Along with opening the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre, there have been huge investments and upgrades in every other hospital in the Fraser Health Authority.
