STOP THE NDP For Immediate Release
NDP Leader Carole James tried to spin her reckless job killing platform in BC's Northwest yesterday, where she provided no new ideas on how to protect B.C. employees during the global economic downturn and position British Columbia to lead North America out of the economic challenges. Instead, she continued her dishonest attacks and didn't address the concerns British Columbians have about their and their families' economic future.
Consider the following:
- James didn't take the opportunity to explain to Northwest families why she is planning to destroy 110,000 jobs, according to expert independent analysis.
- James neglected to mention her environmental plan alone will result in 60,000 good family supporting jobs being lost – mainly in mining and forestry.
- James failed to mention the $1-billion in new taxes on small business, rural industries and major employers – and those are just the taxes we know about.
- In an area of the province highly dependent on forestry, James did not disclose that her new tax on forest companies (log exports) will put 2,000 jobs at risk in Northwest BC.
- And James didn't think it was appropriate to mention that the NDP has proposed a $412-million tax on natural gas flaring without a clear idea of who or what they were taxing.
British Columbians need stability and certainty and a vision to move British Columbia through these difficult economic times. They need leadership and a plan - not dishonest spin.
