Today, the David Suzuki Foundation, Pembina Institute and ForestEthics slammed Carole James’ NDP and their environmental plan, stating that if the NDP has the chance to implement its irresponsible policies British Columbia will lose its pre-eminent position as a global environmental leader, fall far short of the province’s climate change targets and put thousands of jobs at risk across the province.
This follows research released by noted Simon Fraser University professor Marc Jaccard, who predicts that up to 60,000 jobs would be killed under the NDP plan, with the following rural communities bearing the brunt of this job killing scheme:
- Elkford
- Fort St. John
- Kamloops
- Kitimat
- Nanaimo
- Powell River
- Port Alberni
- Prince George
- Sparwood
- Trail
At a time when British Columbia’s families and communities are looking for economic competence and stability from their leaders, Carole James and the NDP are proposing more job losses. This is a reckless and irresponsible plan that will destroy jobs, damage the environment and take BC back to the anti-investment anti-job policies of the 1990s. British Columbians simply can't afford the NDP.
