Premier’s Statement on Trevor Linden Day
Premier Gordon Campbell has made the following statement as the Province proclaimed Dec. 17, 2008 as Trevor Linden Day in British Columbia.
December 17, 2008 Victoria – Premier Gordon Campbell made the following statement today as the Province proclaimed Dec. 17, 2008 as Trevor Linden Day in British Columbia. “On behalf of the people of British Columbia, I’m honoured to acknowledge Trevor Linden’s lasting contributions to Vancouver and British Columbia. “Hockey sits at the very soul of our country. It bridges borders and brings us together in friendly rivalry. And it brings out our best. Trevor Linden has inspired so many of us to be the very best we can be as individuals, as team players, as members of our communities, and as citizens of our province and nation. “The players who inspire us most excel not only on the ice, but also as role models, showing the importance of character and leadership. Linden’s former team-mates and competitors acknowledge him as a leader. “The vision and passion Linden demonstrated as a Canuck remained evident as he carried the Canadian colours into international and Olympic competition, and into his personal arena of children’s charities. “For years, Trevor has worked tirelessly for the children’s hospice, Canuck Place, and other causes for children. Although Trevor Linden is no longer in pursuit of the puck, his pursuits off the ice will endure as legacies for the broader British Columbia community.”
