- Reduced prescription costs for 280,000 lower income British Columbians through Fair PharmaCare – 82% of all registered users now pay less or nothing at all
- Reduced or eliminated Medical Services Plan premiums for 290,000 lower income British Columbians since 2001
- Over 4,000 new, replaced or upgraded residential care and assisted living units to date
- 5,000 assisted living and residential care units planned or underway for 2008, including 1,700 new units already under construction
- Increased resources for home care, counselling services and outreach activities to address seniors’ medical needs at home
- New Premier’s Council on Aging and Seniors’ Issues to provide input on issues important to seniors, including housing options, homecare and seniors’ services
- Increased threshold for home owner’s grant to protect homeowners from rising property taxes resulting from higher property values
- Eliminated provincial income taxes for all British Columbians earning under $15,500 per year – helping 330,000 people Reduced or eliminated provincial income taxes this year for 730,000 people with incomes under $26,000 per year
- Lowest provincial income taxes in Canada for all lower and middle income levels
