- Almost $5-billion increase for health care (2000/01-2007/08)
- Nearly doubled the number of doctors in training –the first increase in medical training seats since 1980
- Over 2,500 new nurse training spaces added since 2001–a 62% increase in just three years
- Reduced or eliminated Medical Services Plan premiums for 290,000 lower income British Columbians since 2001
- Reduced prescription costs for 280,000 lower income British Columbians through Fair PharmaCare – 82% of all registered users now pay less or nothing at all
- Lowest median wait times in Canada for access to diagnostic tests and specialists
- 33% increase in knee replacements, 21% increase in hip replacements, 20% increase in cataract removals, and a 40% increase in angioplasties
- Virtually eliminated wait times for cancer services
- Installed new cardiac defibrillators in every ambulance and increased training for paramedics
- More than doubled the budget to expand childhood immunization programs and influenza vaccinations
