British Columbians Unite To 'Get Out the Vote'
VANCOUVER – Premier Gordon Campbell led British Columbians today in making a mass, simultaneous digital push to get out the vote for the provincial election on Tuesday, May 12.
“Tomorrow British Columbians will ask themselves who is best to lead our economy though these challenging times?” said Premier Campbell. “We have so many ways to connect with one another, from e-mail and text messages to Twitter and Facebook. Young British Columbians in particular can harness these mediums to spread the message that it’s important to get out and vote tomorrow.”
Hundreds gathered in Vancouver to send the message: “On May 12, it’s our future. Please vote. Pass it on” to their colleagues, friends and families via e-mail and cell phones at noon. At the same time, people across the province sent the same message out, urging people to vote.
“Every single vote in every single riding across the province is important,” said Premier Campbell. “On May 12 it truly is our future. Please vote, and please tell everyone you know to make sure they vote as well, and together we’ll build a strong future for B.C.”
