Alana DeLong

Nanaimo-North Cowichan Candidate

Premier Christy Clark and Today’s BC Liberals have acclaimed former four-term Alberta MLA Alana DeLong as their 2017 candidate for Nanaimo-North Cowichan.

“North Cowichan is a unique and diverse region that offers great ideas and perspectives on what our province is, and where it is going,” says DeLong. “I have always believed that a constituency office should be the central hub of a riding where all constituents come to express needs and ideas. I am running to ensure that the voices of this region are heard in Victoria.”

Born in Nelson, and raised in the Okanagan and Victoria, DeLong now resides on Thetis Island in the southern Gulf Islands. She is a former four term MLA who served her constituents in Calgary-Bow during a fourteen-year period of unprecedented economic growth and stability.

During her tenure, she spearheaded an initiative to establish the highest disability assistance payments in Canada. She also championed the establishment of the second largest provincial park in the province.

A constant voice for job growth and economic opportunity, she chaired the Alberta delegation at the Pacific Northwest Economic Region, ultimately becoming the organization’s Vice-President.
