The B.C. Liberal Record

We built B.C.'s first new regional hospital in over 30 years in Abbotsford. Five other new hospitals are under construction in communities across B.C., and we’ve extensively renovated dozens more.

We doubled the number of doctor training spaces in B.C., with more spaces under construction now at the new Southern Medical School in Kelowna.

We’ve reduced wait times for key surgeries like hip replacements and knee replacements by 40 per cent since 2001.

We enshrined the principles of the Canada Health Act in provincial law and added a new principle - sustainability.

The B.C. Liberal government increased health care funding by nearly 60 per cent to the highest level ever in B.C.

 

The NDP Record

The NDP didn't build a single new regional hospital in 10 years in government.

The NDP didn't add any new doctor training spaces and actually cut 1,600 full-time nursing positions.

Wait times for hip and knee replacement surgeries increased up to 110 per cent under the NDP.

Carole James and the NDP voted against putting sustainability into law for B.C.'s health care system.

Carole James and the NDP continue to oppose allowing doctors and nurses trained in other Canadian provinces to work in BC.
