The B.C. Liberal Party believes in providing the investments, opportunities and supports children need to grow into successful, healthy adults.
The B.C. Liberal Record
We've increased funding for K-12 education to record levels, despite having 50,000 fewer students.
We’re building 400 StrongStart BC centres at schools across B.C., to give children a strong beginning to their education.
Enshrined class size limits in law for the first time ever in B.C. As a result, 99 per cent of classes now have 32 or fewer students and student teacher ratio’s are at their lowest levels ever.
$21 million annually for hearing, sight and dental screenings that are performed before a child enters Kindergarten.
We launched Child Health BC to streamline paediatric care.
We're investing $1.5 billion to seismically upgrade priority schools.
We’ve guaranteed, in law, parents’ right to volunteer at school.
The NDP Record
Carole James and the NDP voted against every single increase in funding for K-12 education.
When the NDP were in power they shelved the school seismic upgrading program and cancelled a planned seismic upgrade at Vancouver Technical School in favour of upgrading a liquor distribution warehouse.
Carole James and the NDP voted against putting class size limits in law, a law that has dramatically reduced class size.
The NDP has always been more interested in supporting big labour then improving children’s education. In fact, in the 90’s the NDP even allowed the unions to stop parents from volunteering at their child's school.
