VICTORIA – Premier Gordon Campbell issued the following statement on the Vancouver Giants’ 2007 Memorial Cup Championship victory.

“I know all British Columbians join me in congratulating the Vancouver Giants for bringing the Memorial Cup to Vancouver following their exciting 3 to 1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers today. Throughout this tournament, these exceptionally gifted young athletes dazzled us with their speed and skills and have shown all of us what can be accomplished through teamwork and hard work.

“General manager Scott Bonner, head coach Don Hay and the entire staff put an exciting product on the ice and I know the entire city is very proud of them. I also want to recognize Ron Toigo, chair, and Stuart Ballantyne, general manager, of the 2007 Memorial Cup’s Vancouver Organizing Committee, as well as the 450 volunteers who made the 2007 Memorial Cup a huge success.
